  1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the Ground Beef and Onion:
In an oven-safe skillet, brown the ground beef and chopped onion over medium-high heat until the beef is cooked through and the onions are soft.
  3. Add Cream Cheese and Seasoning:
Stir in the green chilies, taco seasoning, and cream cheese. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the cream cheese melts and blends well with the beef mixture.
  4. Layer the Casserole:
Spread the Fritos corn chips evenly over the beef mixture in the skillet. Sprinkle shredded taco mix cheese on top.
  5. Bake:
Place the skillet in the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Add Toppings:
Once out of the oven, sprinkle diced Roma tomato and shredded lettuce over the casserole.
  7. Serve:
Serve hot, with sour cream and salsa on the side for topping.

Tips:

  • Customize the recipe by adding your favorite toppings such as jalapeños, black olives, or diced avocado.
  • For a vegetarian option, substitute the ground beef with cooked lentils or black beans.
  • Make it a complete meal by serving with a side of Spanish rice or a fresh green salad.
