Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Wash and scrub the russet potatoes thoroughly, then pat them dry with paper towels.
Pierce the potatoes with a fork in several places to allow steam to escape during baking.
Rub the potatoes with olive oil and sprinkle them with salt.
Place the potatoes directly on the oven rack or on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil.
